Meet Gladys

My name is Gladys Guillen, and I'm from Venezuela. I've developed several soft skills, particularly in verbal communication. For instance, I've refined my pronunciation, writing, and speaking abilities. Furthermore, I've cultivated the ability to recognize sounds in words with similar pronunciations and enhance my use of punctuation marks, understanding their importance during reading. Additionally, I've learned to listen to diverse accents, which improves my listening proficiency. I actively apply these skills professionally and at home, especially when teaching my children. I am eager to advance my career and recognize the significance of communication. I am highly motivated to attend classes to boost my speaking fluency and improve my comprehension of spoken English. My goal is to understand conversations without needing to confirm my understanding. These classes allow me to practice authentic English and engage in meaningful conversations. I also value Ms. Benton’s teaching methods, which incorporate various strategies in each session. One key advantage of the Each One Teach One program is its focus on small group work, which fosters interaction with individuals from different nationalities and cultures. This environment encourages all participants to actively participate, ask questions about uncertainties, and enhance their overall skills.

Meet Monica

My name is Monica Alfonso, and I have been with EOTO for about two years. Originally from Colombia, I have learned how to apply for a new career through this ESL program. I now understand that a good resume, cover letter, and thank-you messages after interviews are crucial for success in securing employment. I chose EOTO for its digital resources, tutoring, and personal development with my career navigator, Ms. Lisa Scarlet. These resources have helped me build essential life skills and overcome language barriers for my job. I also value the one-on-one sessions with my literacy instructor, Ms. Marsha Benton. She encourages me to draw on my life experiences, which has greatly improved my conversational skills and vocabulary.

Meet Perla

My name is Perla Córdoba, and I am originally from Mexico. I previously took another ESL course but was drawn to Each One Teach One (EOTO) after auditing a class with Ms. Benton for a week. The intimate class size of ten students was highly beneficial, allowing for personalized learning. Under Ms. Benton’s guidance, I have gained confidence in my speaking, writing, and presentation skills over the past six months. The supportive environment at EOTO motivates me to continue improving. This course helps me communicate effectively and lays the groundwork for my future goals, including obtaining certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant and in Phlebotomy. I've also learned valuable skills in career research, resume writing, and cover letters. I’m excited to attend class and apply what I learn in real-world situations. Thank you, Ms. Benton and EOTO!

Meet Olga

My name is Olga Lindsey, and I am from Mexico. After 28 years as an EFL teacher in public schools, I moved to the United States. I have two bachelor's degrees—one in teaching and another in computer science—and a master's in bilingual education and educational technology. I learned about Each One Teach One (EOTO) from a coworker who praised its excellent ratings, compassionate instructors, and one-on-one tutoring. I chose EOTO for its small group tutoring, which allows for personalized learning experiences. Through EOTO, I have become more confident in expressing my thoughts, improved my fluency, and expanded my vocabulary. This has positively impacted my job, especially in communicating with coworkers and clients who do not speak Spanish. Overall, EOTO has enriched my life by enhancing my commitment, self-sufficiency, and communication skills in various areas.
